Relief-In-Need Grants


The Trustees of the Gloucester Charities Trust administer the grant making "Relief-in-Need" branch of the charity which has limited funding available to assist people from the City and County of Gloucester who are in need.

The funding for these grants comes from the income generated by "Relief-in-Need" investment funds which themselves are residual sums from historical local charities which came under the control of the Gloucester Municipal Charities.

The aim of "Relief-in-Need" funding is to provide what assistance the Trust can to people who are in need, hardship or distress and who are resident in the County of Gloucestershire. The fund cannot be used for applications where it is more appropriate for public funding to provide assistance.

Applications to the fund must be supported by an authorised representative of a recognised local support organisation who must be fully aware of the applicant's circumstances and willing to provide written details. Grants made by the Trust are payable to the supporting organisation who will arrange purchase of the items applied for. Payments are not made to the individual applicant.
